How to LEAD a team without actually being a BOSS?

Image
Article written by  Sreenivas Mothukuru During college days most of the students spend lots and lots of time in reading, writing, understanding & memorizing tons of information to perform well in semester exams. For many, these efforts are just to get good percentages so as to come under corporate recruitment scanner. After completion of exams and once the person is recruited in any corporate office s(he) will experience the  strange shift from college to professional life . I call it a unique once in a life time experience. During the initial days, s(he) will be asked to understand product and process to  perform better   as an individual contributor. Few years later the same person will be challenged with additional responsibilities w.r.t. the role. A shift in role from ‘individual contributor ’ to ‘boss’ has a lot to do with the responsibilities they handle. In general individual contributors a) are responsible for their own actions b) they don’t hav...

When the last days of your college life approach and you are about to graduate, the most prominent thought that would be playing on your mind is about getting your first job. It is the most important stage of life where a completely new beginning awaits you. The fun and carefree time of the college life would be replaced by the responsibility and worries of finding a job. The friends and the chit-chat with them would soon be replaced by colleagues and professional talk. The college canteen environment would soon be replaced by to-the-point office environment. So, how do you cope with this transition to get settled in your first job? This is a question that every student encounters when he/she begins the career path. With a little help and advice, you can settle down well at your workplace even with...

Prototype: Future of Job Hunt

Article written by   Sreenivas Mothukuru It was 10 O’clock in the night, I had dinner and was about to say ‘good night’ to family members, but, somehow discussion started between me & my brother about online shopping sites, importance of work experience, approach towards the job hunt, etc. Although discussion went long till mid night the conversation helped me to think about a prototype. Now a days, we see numerous shopping sites (Flipkart, Ebay, Amazon, Deals2buy, Bestbuy, Snapdeal, Junglee, etc. the list goes on) where individuals can search and buy items of their choice. We are enjoying the luxury of shopping online. Thanks to the technology advancement and brilliant brains behind these. Similarly, we have number of job sites like Dice, Glassdoor, Indeed, Careerbuilder, USAjobs, Monster, Naukri, Timesjobs, shine, jobsahead, etc. where job seekers can search for open positions and employers can search for suitable candidates based on keywords. With the current setu...

Wings of Wisdom (WoW)

Article written by   Sreenivas Mothukuru Any company is a combination of people with various skill sets and different work experiences. However, it doesn't matter how many competent employees a company have unless they come out and share their wisdom with others.   It is not about sharing knowledge about Java or SQL or Selenium ... It's all about learning from others experiences (i.e. what worked well and what didn't).   The purpose of "WoW" is to push Senior staff to share their rich worth sharing experiences within specified time (15 minutes) with others. At the max. four members can share their experiences in an hour. This way people who attend the talk will know new concepts / ideas / solutions within an hour. If any  listener is interested to know further they can meet the presenter offline. This event can happen once every month / quarter / once or twice a year. Frequency of the event will largely depends on team member's learning curve at offi...

TAXI OR CAB SERVICES AT HYDERABAD

TAXI OR CAB SERVICES AT HYDERABAD Hyderabad has numerous number of Taxi and Cab services which usually runs round the clock. There are few big ones like Meru,Skycabs and others which also offers dedicated service from the Airport and many other private players which have a limited set of cabs. With Autowallahs not ready to go by meter , many people book Cabs in advance to avoid the hassle. Also the Traffic police now a days are cracking hard on the drunk drivers with their random checks which has resulted in party goers going back by a Cab while returning home. With the biggest gala of the all parties coming up with New Year  , its going to get difficult to get a Cab on 31st December and we decided to list out few Cab services which are available across Hyderabad. Feel free to add if we missed the good ones and we will update it. These are the CAB operators which give Point to Point service. Many other packages are available with these operators for which you can call...

Tribute to Nirbhaya!

Twitter @wild_pepper: "In a real sense, India has died a thousand deaths today. In her death, she lives. In her death, India lives with shame. RIP #nirbhaya" Let us pray that no other girl in this world will ever face the brutality and the inhuman act that Nirbhaya suffered leading to her painful death. I salute to her bravery and strength she showed for the past 13 days. I am paying tribute to her by not celebrating the New Year's Eve and appeal to my friends & family to Boycott Republic Day to show some form of tribute, respect and anger in observation of Nirbhaya's death. Everyone can feel the pain and misery Nirbhaya went through if you could associate her to your mother or sister. "Yes, a sensible and peaceful way to express your anger is "boycott." Mahatma Gandhi shook the British empire through "non cooperation." Which means, do not go to India Gate on 26 January to hear the prime minister's speech (does he really speak ...
